Cat&Mouse Mulder wasn't at work today, but that hadn't worried her, he was probably home sick. She'd call him as soon as she was in her car. As she walked out of the J. Edgar Hoover Building, a car pulled up along side her and a familiar face poked out. "Frohike," she said with a sigh. "You scared me." "I'm afraid I'll have to scare you again, get in." She looked at him strangely. "I really have to get home I have a lot of work to do since Mulder wasn't at work tod-" "Exactly," he interupted her. "Mulder wasn't at work today because he was kidnapped. Please just get in the car," he said slowly with pleading eyes. Her face went pale and she got in the car. "What's going on, where is he?" She asked as the car pulled into traffic. "A group of people known as the incorperation got him. They have nothing to do with your Cancer Man and their more ruthless," Langly informed her. "Well what do they want?" She asked shakily. "Mulder came in contact with information they needed. They got to him but not the information." Byers told her. "So can't Mulder tell them where to get it?" "You know Mulder, Scully. He'd die before he did that." Langly said "Damnit," she swore to herself quitely. "Is it that important? Why would he do this to himself, to me?" "Actually, this information is very important. The knowlege Mulder came in contact with can save your life. It's the cure for your cancer." Frohike said, a bit strained. She sat back and closed her eyes, ready to cry. "He did this for me," She said softly. Frohike looked to Langly and Byers. They both nodded and he gently placed his hand on hers. "Dana, a while back, about a month after Mulder introduced you to us, he told us something you need to hear right now. He said if something like this ever happened to him, and he hadn't told you already, for us to tell you that he wouldn't give the years you were partners for anything in the world. Even Samantha. He wanted you to know that he would do anything for you, and um, most of all that uh, he loves you." Her tears were pouring now as she cried with her face in her hands. Frohike put a soothing hand on her shoulder, and a single tear fell down his own cheek. He didn't know if it was sympathy for her or if he was just devestated because Mulder decided Scully was hot too. After a couple minutes, she got herself back together and asked, "What can I do?" "You mean what can we do," Langly corrected with a small smile. "We're going to help you get him back cause we're kind of attached to him too." "First of all we think Mulder would have given you clues of where to find this information, so we'll have to look everywhere. Your apartment, his. Your office, anywhere that you two go." Byers said She nodded and closed her eyes again. "Thank you guys so much for helping me," She said with sincerety. "Anytime, G-Woman." Langly quipped. She gave him a small appreciative smile. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx End of Part 1 Please send all comments to DKScully@juno.com! ;*) K@tie Cat&Mouse:Part 2 Scully was frantically searching her apartment. Where would Mulder put that information? It wasn't in her kitchen, living room, bathroom, or bedroom. After three hours of looking, she decided he didn't hide it here. Tensely, she sat on her couch and grabbed her cell phone. "Mulder residence." "Langly, it's me, I can't find anything here, have you guys had any luck over there?" Langly looked over to Frohike thumbing through the collection of videos that "weren't" Mulder's and smiled. "Well, we haven't found the information." Scully sighed on the other end. "Hey listen, Scully, where else do you and Mulder go?" She rubbed her forehead. "I really can't think of anywhere that...wait, I think I might know. Meet me at the Lincoln Memorial on the bench by the reflecting pool." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She jogged over to see what looked like the three Stooges from behind sitting on Mulder and she's bench. She smiled a little at the thought. She came to stand by Frohike who was sitting on one of the ends. He smiled up at her. "You were right, Scully, we found a disk along with a note addressed to you." He gently handed her a folded piece of paper. She put it in her pocket, and they went back to her apartment. While the Gunmen were at work on Scully's lap top, she curled up on her sofa and pulled out the note. It read, 'Dear Scully, I've given you the information to cure your cancer on the disk. No matter what happens don't give it up, don't trade it for me. I hope the Gunmen have kept my wishes and told you how I feel. I do love you Dana, and that's why I'm doing this. If God should see me through this, you need to know that I love you and always will. I hope that the information is useful and I'll be able to see you again. I love you, Dana. Fox Mulder' She was crying again, and before her tears could hit the paper, she noticed there already was tear stains there. Mulder had been crying when he wrote it. This just made her cry even more as she held the letter to her cross. The Gunmen turned around and Frohike went over and put his arms on her shoulders. "Well get him back, Dana, I promise." She nodded and stopped crying. "So what exactly does this disk say?" xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx End of Part 2 Please send all comments to DKScully@juno.com Cat&Mouse:Part 3 Langly and Byers turned to look at Scully. "It's amazing, really, we've never seen anything like it." Byers told her. "There's instructions on how to make cancer killing, hybrid DNA strands. The picture shows a normal strand with 48 chromosomes, but then the next picture shows extra chromosomes that don't look like the others, they're grey in color and oval shaped. Supposedly if these strands were implanted into the nucleus of your cancerous cells, they would eat them and cure your condition." Scully sat back in shock. "But that's impossible, DNA doesn't work that way-" "Scully, with all you've seen in the X-Files, you've started out thinking it was impossible, but then had it proven to you that it was possible. All those times and just this once, you can't have faith in the man that proved it to you all along? Just believe in him and trust us. Anything is possible, you just have to be open to extreme possibilities." Langly pointed out. She smiled and looked down at her hands that were folded gently in her lap. "You remind me of Mulder." She sighed. "I want to believe." Langly nodded and turned back to the computer. "All right, then the next step is to see if these people are willing to make a trade. Of course we'll copy this disk first and then give them the original, but until then, they've got to contact you first." "Langly, my friend, you are forgetting that if you make a copy, the original will give away that we still have the information. There are small details on the disk that can be found when you makes copies." Frohike reminded him. "Ah, but not, my dear friend, when we hammer out the details with a laser," Langly said with a smile. Frohike came up behind Langly and put a hand on his shoulder. "You have an absolutely brilliant mind." Langly laughed and smiled again. Shaking them all out of their relaxed state, the phone rang. Scully almost sprang to get it, but Frohike put an hand on her shoulder. He pushed the trace button and then motions that it was okay to answer. "Scully." "Agent Scully, I have a proposition for you," said a voice that was definitely using a voice pattern scrambler. "We have Agent Mulder, and are willing to trade him for the disk." She was silent for a couple of minutes. "Agent Scully?" "How do I know you haven't killed him?" There was a loud noise on the other end and she heard a groan. The next moment, her heart started beating again. "Scully," Mulder wheezed into the phone. "Mulder, are you okay? Did they hurt you?" "Scully listen to me. Don't make the trade. Don't-" And then he was gone and the voice was back. "Damn it! You bastards! Don't you hurt him!" "Why Agent Scully, you sound upset. Give us the disk and you'll get your lover boy back." And then the line went dead. She looked weakly to Frohike. "Did you make the trace?" He shook his head with sympathy. "No, they were using some kind of digital scrambler. Whoever they are, they're very cautious." "But they didn't even give me a date or time, what am I supposed to do?" "You just wait here and get some sleep." Byers told her. We'll take the disk back to our place, make the copy and fix up the original. If they call again, let us know. Lock your door and pull the shades down on your windows. You'll be okay." She nodded. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ The next morning, the Gunmen were back bright and early and even fed her breakfast in bed. Frohike gave her a single red rose, and she kissed him on the cheek as a thank you. The phone rang again, and their features froze. They didn't even bother with the trace because they knew it was useless. Scully picked up the phone carefully off its cradle. "Scully." "Nice to hear your voice again, Agent Scully. I'm sure Lover boy here would like to hear it too, but he's not going to." In the background, she heard a fist connect with a face, and then someone slam into a wall. The voice grunted. "Your lover gets a bit uppity when I talk about you. Have to watch what I say, he throws a pretty good punch. Back to business. Meet us in the back of the alley at 51st Street at 6:00 P.M. You bring the disk and we bring lover boy. Deal?" She took a deep breath and looked around at the Gunmen. They all nodded in agreement. "Deal." "And don't try anything or bring anyone or he's gone." Then the line went dead. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxx End of Part 3. Please tell me what you think, I'd love to hear from you! All comments can be sent to DKScully@juno.com Thanx for reading, K@tie ;*) Cat&Mouse Part:4 It had been four days and the Incorporation had neither showed or called. Scully was getting extremely nervous, and the Gunmen just about lived at her apartment now. Within the time frame of Mulder getting kidnapped, she and the Gunmen had become inseparable friends. She discovered that their paranoia paid off sometimes, and aside from them being crazy, they were good people and friends at that. She was laying weakly on the couch after not getting more than five hours of sleep in those four days when the phone rang. Her heart jumped into her throat as she reached over to answer it. "Scully," She said with the Gunmen watching over her. "Why Agent Scully, good to see you haven't given up faith in us." "Why didn't you show?" "Well it seems lover here was a bit uncooperative so we punished him by making him wait to see you a couple days." "Stop playing these cat and mouse games with me," she said with a conviction and temper she didn't think she'd have the strength to carry out. "This cat when pushed is a dangerous weapon, and I don't care if I die or not, I scratch hard, and my bite is worse than my roar, trust me. Now meet me or prepare for the consequences cause God knows I've got the conviction to bring you down." The voice was silent on the other end and then spoke. "Have a temper, do we kitty? Well for some reason or another I tend to believe your little speech, and besides, I'm getting tired of waiting. Meet us tonight, same time and place." And the line went dead again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ Right after that, the Gunmen left for the apartment building on the right side of the alley where Scully was to meet with the Incorporation. They wanted to be close to her without being seen so they got a room with a window by the alley, and stayed there. Around six, Scully's car pulled up, and she walked with the disk in her hand to stand about 20 feet away from a big black van with no license plate. A man got out dressed all in black. He held the voice pattern scrambler to her mouth and then spoke to her. "Glad you came. I bet you can't wait to see your lover." He snapped his fingers and two more men in black jumped out of the van, one holding a gaged and weary Mulder. "Mulder." She called to him breathlessly His eyes pleaded her to leave, but she wouldn't. Not when she was this close. One of the MIB's walked over to her other side. The voice spoke again. "Extend both of your hands. The man on your left will take the disk, and the man on your right will hand lover to you. The exchange will occur at the same time so neither on of us is cheated. Deal?" She nodded solemnly, and held out her hands, one holding the disk, the other open, ready to take Mulder. In the next second, the disk was taken from her, and Mulder was shoved towards her, but then shot in the back of his shoulder. The MIBs jumped back into the van and took off as police and ambulance sirens came closer. Scully thought to herself the Gunmen must have called them. She ran into his arms, and he held her as best he could, still shaking from being shot. She didn't care about his injuries at that moment, she was just glad to have him back alive. She held onto him so fiercely her body shook against his, and she was crying uncontrollably in his embrace. She ungagged him and smiled through her tears. She just couldn't help it anymore, she started to kiss him anywhere she could. Quickly darting kisses across his cheek to his lips and then to his other cheek. When she reached his jaw, he tilted his head, and she kissed his neck. He took her face in his hands, their foreheads touching, and he whispered into her lips, "Dana, I love you," before kissing her so deeply she stopped crying for a brief moment and kissed him back. When they broke apart, her tears returned, and she held him again. He gently rocked her, holding her back with one hand, and her head to his chest in the other. He closed his eyes and kissed the top of her head as the ambulance sirens came closer. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxx End of Part 4 Please send all comments to DKScully@juno.com, and enjoy reading part 5 ;*)K@tie Cat&Mouse:Part 5 Scully sat in a chair right next to Mulder's hospital bed with the Gunmen standing behind her. The doctors said he'd be awake any minute now. She held his hand, just grateful that they both got out of this alive. Mulder's eyes blinked open to find four smiling faces watching him. He smiled back at them. "Hey. How are you?" Scully asked him softly. "Okay I guess." His smile turned into a frown. "Scully, you shouldn't have given them the disk. It was your only chance." Langly held up another disk. "Not quite Mulder, you should have had more faith in us than that," he said grinning. "We made a copy." "But they'll kno-" "Laser," Langly reassured him. "They'll never know." Mulder let out a sigh, smiled, and laid back against the pillows supporting him. "Thank you for taking care of Scully." "Oh, we didn't take care of her, she's a strong woman, Mulder. We simply helped her out." Byers corrected. Mulder nodded and smiled. "Well thanks for helping her out." "Anytime. Besides, we got to be really good friends. Don't let this one go, Mulder." Frohike said sincerely. "And if you do I just might have to take her up for myself," he added smiling. Scully blushed and Mulder smiled back. "Say guys," Mulder asked, "Could we have some time alone?" "Yeah, sure, we better get going anyway, never safe to stay in one place too long." Langly answered for them. "Later guys." "Later," Mulder said. "Bye, and thank you," Scully added. They all smiled at her once more and then left her and Mulder to themselves. She held his hand. "I thought I'd never see you again. I was so scared." She said just above a whisper. "I was scared too. I needed to see you again. To tell you face to face that I love you more than anything. I need you in my life," he whispered. He lifted their entwined hands and gently kissed her palm. She leaned in and kissed his cheek and then the crook of his neck, and finally his lips. When they broke away, she rested her forehead on his. "I love you too," she whispered into his mouth. "No more games of cat&mouse. This kitty wants her mouse to stay with her forever, and never run away again." "I promise you I won't run away any more....kitty," he whispered with a smile. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxx The End!!!!!
